Enjoy a peaceful and relaxing holiday in one of the most beautiful and secluded locations on the island of Bali - rewarded in the understanding that the cost of your villa accommodation will assist the East Bali Poverty Project. Care for yourself and the people of Bali.

"... by doing nothing, you can make a difference"

In 1998 David Booth MBE founded the East Bali Poverty Project, a non-profit organization, in response to an appeal for help by an isolated mountain community in north-east Bali. Thousands of people lived in a village of 19 isolated hamlets high in the steep and arid mountains. They lived in abject poverty, without roads, water, sanitation, adequate nutrition, and health and education facilities. The children were the main victims. Since then David and his team have changed - for the better - hundreds of lives. For more information on this incredible organization go to www.eastbalipovertyproject.org

Fast forward to 2004. Having raised a family, and run a successful business, an Australian visited East Bali. Taken by surprise at the intensely beautiful and spiritual area, they decided to build a home here. However, still having responsibilities in Australia, there was a small problem. What to do with the house when it was not in use? Renting was the obvious answer... but what to do with the money? They were determined that this would have to be a win/win situation for the people of East Bali. So the solution was rather obvious. All rental monies, after deduction of basic costs, go to the East Bali Poverty Project. At the current time this is 50% of all rental monies received. It seemed to be the perfect solution. The house provides employment for 10 Balinese. It brings people to East Bali so they can experience the wonder of "old Bali." The families in the mountains, who desperately need help, receive it.

So while you are on holiday - doing nothing but soaking up the sun, and enjoying the magic of the Island of the Gods - you are actually making an enormous difference to those in need in East Bali.

Master Suite
Located on the second level of the main bale, the master suite consists of an air-conditioned double bedroom. The ensuite bathroom has indoor and outdoor facilities. A large living area overlooks the beach and adjoining coconut grove. With gentle sea breezes, under the alang alang roof, you may never want to venture downstairs.

Guest Bedrooms
In a sperate bale there are two double bedrooms. Both feature private verandas, ensuite bathrooms with outdoor shower, and air-conditioning.

Living Area
With the kitchen as the focus of this large open plan room, there are two living areas on either side. Imagine the kids at one end watching a DVD, while the adults relax at the other, sipping a local beer or an exotic cocktail. Without external walls, the living areas benefit from ocean breezes and allow the essences of Bali permeate the villa.

Swimming Pool
A state of the art 25 meter lap pool fronts the main and guest bales. Step out of your bedroom straight into the pool, or just enjoy the ambiance of watching the water lap at the wet edge. There is also a wading pool for those who can’t swim.

Outside Dining
A bale located on the other side of the pool. Day bed bale located at the end of the pool. Staff - there are 9 full time.

Day-bed Bale
Separate from the main house, on the other side of the pool, the covered day-bed is just the place to chill out. Large enough for 2 plus people, it is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing massage, read a book, or have the obligatory afternoon nap.

Staff
There are 6 full time staff to help you enjoy your stay. Wayan manages the Villa, and will meet with you daily to help plan your day.

Location

Situated in the small village of Mandira, located just before Candi Dasa, is VillaGils. With the completion of the “very fast road” from Denpasar, it is an hour and fifteen minutes from the airport. In a private enclave, just 50 meters to a white sand beach, VillaGils is a walled compound with 4 separate bales. Accommodation consists of three double bedrooms, all air-conditioned with ensuite bathrooms, a 25 meter lap pool, three separate living areas, an outside eating area, full staff and 24 hour security.
